1.)
What
is your impression towards the architecture/building of Yayasan Jenderami?
- It is rather beautiful on the building’s intention, It sheltered the
Islamic community within a peaceful compound and context, as a space of ideal
living for ‘warga emas’, and for passionate Islamic practice, education and
several Islamic events to take place.
2.)
Is
the spaces provided by the mosque ideal for you to conduct your prayer, in term
of sizes?
- Yes, both internal and external space provided are able to accommodate
up to 2000 people when there are big event taking place, it shares a common
courtyard for gathering purpose.
Internal spaces are sufficient to conduct daily prayers.
3.)
How
do you feel about the ambiance of the mosque?
It gives a sense of calmness, because of its strategic location, we
never find any traffic noise or industrial noise, we are all ear to the prayers
without interruption.
4.)
Is
the facility fulfills your religious need as a mosque?
- Basically the facilities are more than enough, we have space for
prayer, ablution, changing room and there are even shops selling necessity
stuff for prayer. Furthermore it is
expanding from time to time, like the current on-going construction bistro, school
and so on.
5.)
How do you feel about the sufficiency of
natural lighting during the day time and artificial lighting during the night
time?
- Daylight in certain area is not sufficient, like the male prayer’s
space is not bright enough. Anyhow, there are people who prefer to pray in a
dimmer space as they think light glare could disturb their visual. However, the
artificial lights for internal spaces are decent, and it makes the mosque
“glow” during the night, it was nicely done and impressed a lot of visitors.
6.)
What
is your favorite part of this mosque? Any desire of Islamic feature of the
mosque?
- The middle of the mosque comprises of high windows at different height,
it is the brightest space with a relatively high ceiling which makes me feel
like a sacred area with light penetration from all the windows. No desire of
Islamic feature, this mosque design does not strongly emphasize on Islamic
pattern and texture, instead the simplicity from the pure geometry found throughout
the mosque enhance this piece of architecture.
7.)
Which
parts of this mosque enhance your prayer spiritually? Any specific time?
- I have to mention the environment again, this mosque root at the right
location. No specific time for me as I always believe to conduct prayer
spiritually is about the inner mind and
faith of oneself.
8.)
What
is/are the most sacred spot of the form or space of this mosque?
- The middle of the mosque (courtyard), this large open space without
obstruction of roof and walls allow me to have a complete view of the mosque,
and the greatness is being surrounded by Islamic features carved on the floor,
walls and even the roof. Things are clear being outside of the enclosed space.
9.)
How do you feel about the social community
within the compound of the mosque?
- Besides being a space for prayer, the sharing between each other also
makes this place a source of knowledge. It is a balance living Interaction between
educator, children, adults and ‘warga emas’, and now the big family is still
expanding.
10.)
Do you know any feature of the mosque and its
purpose?
- In the older times, Islamic need to pray five times per day, the
minaret is the tallest part of the building to call for prayers and act as the
landmark of specific places. The reason to build high is also to make sure the
sound reach as far as possible. If the minaret able to call more people, it
means the more powerful the kingdom is.
